Hightech-Ausstellung in Meßkirch (15./16.07.): Jugendliche erkunden die Berufswelt der Industrie 4.0

High-tech exhibition for youth in Meßkirch: Discovering future-oriented technical professions

Finding the right profession is not always easy for young people. The education program COACHING4FUTURE aims to help them in this regard. On July 15th and 16th, 2024, the program will visit the Grafen-von-Zimmern-Realschule in Meßkirch with the interactive learning truck called DISCOVER INDUSTRY. The exhibition, which takes place inside a double-decker truck, showcases the tasks and technologies involved in modern industry and highlights in-demand professions. Students will have the opportunity to try out applications such as 3D scanning and robotics and gain insight into the production processes of fully digitized factories. The educational event is part of the school-based career orientation program and is organized by the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, the employer association SÜDWESTMETALL, and the regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency, with the aim of promoting skilled workers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Local impact:

Meßkirch is a small town in the district of Sigmaringen, located in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The town has a rich history, being mentioned for the first time in a document in 1159. It is known for its well-preserved medieval castle, Meßkirch Castle, which dates back to the 12th century. Meßkirch has a population of approximately 8,500 residents and is situated in a rural area surrounded by picturesque landscapes.

The high-tech exhibition with its focus on technical professions is particularly relevant for Meßkirch and the wider region. According to the IHK Fachkräftemonitor (Skills Monitor) for Baden-Württemberg, there is already a significant shortage of highly qualified technical and engineering professions, which is expected to grow as more people retire in the coming years. Therefore, initiatives like COACHING4FUTURE and the DISCOVER INDUSTRY truck play a crucial role in inspiring young people to pursue careers in STEM fields.
