Gerstetten celebrates: promotion in the thrilling final against Burgberg!

VfL Gerstetten celebrated a great success on June 15, 2025: The “junior team” under coach Harald Fronmüller secured promotion with a 2-1 win against SG Burgberg/Hohenmemmingen. The exciting match took place in the Giengen TSG stadium in front of 850 spectators and in summer temperatures. With an average age of just 19.8 years, Gerstetter's starting eleven was significantly younger than that of their opponents, whose average age was 29.1 years.

The game started turbulently: In the 12th minute, SG Burgberg/Hohenmemmingen took the early lead with a free kick from Kilian Eberhardt. Gerstetten showed more possession of the ball, but didn't create any compelling chances. The game changed quickly in the second half.
