An unforgettable event is coming up that will captivate book lovers and creative minds! The sensational summer reading campaign “Heiss auf Reading” begins in Bottwartal and promises to get children and young people excited about the wonders of literature! More than 100 outstanding libraries throughout Baden-Württemberg are involved and are putting everything on one card to strengthen the media skills of the young generation! If that isn't exciting!
But what exactly can participants expect? For every book read and creative additional tasks there is a lottery ticket and thus the chance to win unique prizes! The main prize? A day family pass for Tripsdrill – an absolute highlight! The adventurous children will get their money's worth with a fantastic magic show in Erdmannhausen from July 14th!
Magical experiences and creative challenges
Participants have the opportunity to make a diorama on the theme of “My vacation day in the forest” and earn additional tickets for doing so. But that's not all! A bombastic forest shoebox campaign will take place in Großbottwar on July 22nd, which will provide a crowning insight into the world of magic. And in Marbach and Rielingshausen, little artists can look forward to exciting animation workshops!
But the highlights continue: an improv theater in Pleidelsheim, which is a must, is accompanied by delicious snacks, while the Steinheim pop-up library offers the basics of reading for primary school children from July 29th to September 19th. And what would such an extraordinary campaign be without a “blind date with a book”? Curious readers can look forward to this shocking book harvest in Marbach and Erdmannhausen - but be careful: surprises are guaranteed!
An educational summer
Did you know that the 2025 summer reading campaign is taking place for the 16th time? It is no coincidence that 131 libraries from 111 municipalities in the Stuttgart administrative region are taking part and 29 of them are offering a special campaign for adults! This shows the passionate and committed support for the language and reading skills of children and young people.
How important is the commitment to promoting reading? In 2025, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research will also come up with a variety of projects to improve reading skills! From funding through the “Reading Start 1-2-3” project, in which 5 million reading start sets were distributed, to individual mentoring for children with reading difficulties. It is an educational feat without equal!
Children and young people in Germany often start school with different language skills. Good reading skills are key to a successful education and life. The important role of reading is being recognized more than ever and the measures being taken to support both children and adults are having an impact!
