Burglar strikes in Schwäbisch Hall – police are looking for witnesses!

On May 23, 2025, there were several incidents in the region around Schwäbisch Hall that concerned police forces. On Thursday between 9:50 a.m. and 7 p.m., a burglar forcibly gained access to a residential building on Willy-Brandt-Allee in Schwäbisch Hall. Various pieces of jewelry were stolen from two apartments. The extent of the damage is currently unknown. The Schwäbisch Hall police station has started the investigation and is asking for information on 0791 4000.

Furthermore, an incident occurred in Rosengarten on Thursday evening around 10:30 p.m. in which a 51-year-old man resisted police officers. The man rioted in his apartment on Kornweg and threw flower pots out of the window. The police took him into custody and a criminal case was opened against him.

Traffic accidents and assaults

Another incident that concerned the police was a collision and subsequent hit-and-run on the A6 between Kupferzell and Schwäbisch Hall, which also took place on Thursday evening. At 9:40 p.m., a 34-year-old tractor-trailer driver swerved to overtake and damaged the tarpaulin of another tractor-trailer. The unknown perpetrator left the scene of the accident without permission, causing material damage of over 7,500 euros. Witnesses are asked to call 07904 94260.

On the same day in Crailsheim, a 45-year-old VW driver was stopped by the police on Haller Strasse. She smelled a strong smell of alcohol. The woman defended herself against the police, insulted the officers and even attacked them, which resulted in three police officers suffering minor injuries but remaining fit for duty. Due to a psychological emergency, she was admitted to a specialist clinic.

Statistical insights into crime

The incidents are part of a larger trend that Interior Minister Roman Poseck presented in the police crime statistics for Hesse on March 6, 2025. A total of 388,226 crimes were recorded by the police in Hesse in 2024. This represents a decrease of 9,286 crimes (2.3%) compared to the previous year. The decline is the first since the rise in crime following the coronavirus pandemic years. From 2022 to 2023 there was a 7.8 percent increase in crimes. The frequency number, i.e. the registered crimes per 100,000 inhabitants, fell from 6,220 in 2023 to 6,046 in 2024. The clearance rate also fell by 1.3 percent to 61.9 percent. Further information is available in the press release from the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sport.

These events highlight the challenges faced by the police in the region, while highlighting the decline in crime in Hesse, which may be due to an increasing security focus and preventive measures.
