Busy activity at Emmen military airfield: fighter jets over Rothenburg!
On July 4, 2025, the municipality of Rothenburg will announce increased flight operations at Emmen military airfield. The reason for this measure is the takeoffs and landings of the Patrouille Suisse and a PC-21 propeller aircraft. The period for the flight movements extends from 1:40 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., during which the aerobatic team and the propeller plane will carry out several maneuvers in the air. This information comes from a report by Nau.ch, which informs local residents about the planned activities.
Serious preparations and well-structured processes are essential, especially for residents who may be affected by the increased noise. This was highlighted in another report by Luzerner Zeitung, which points to similar flight operations in the Emmen region. In this context, the Air Force also informs that additional increased flight operations will take place on July 14th, with Patrouille Suisse fighter jets taking off and landing between 9:10 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. This special mission serves as a flyover for the opening of the Basel Tattoo.
Activities of the Patrouille Suisse
The Patrouille Suisse is known for its impressive flight demonstrations and will also demonstrate its skills at the Emmen military airfield during the announced time. The aerobatic team has made a name for itself internationally and regularly attracts spectators, both on site and through various media.
The Air Force apologizes in advance to residents for any inconvenience the increased air traffic may cause. Such communications are important to gain the understanding and support of the population, especially when it comes to temporary noise nuisances. Such commitment demonstrates the Air Force's efforts to promote public awareness and acceptance of military aviation operations.
The upcoming flights at the military airfield also offer an excellent opportunity for aviation enthusiasts and those interested to experience the fascinating world of aviation technology and maneuvers up close. These events further strengthen the close cooperation between the military and the civilian population, which is beneficial for both sides.
