Dramatic operation: Fire in Bissingen – 47 firefighters on duty!

On Saturday morning there was a fire in a ventilation and extraction system on Alte Weberei Street in Bissingen. At around 11:15 a.m., employees noticed smoke and a fire developing, which they were initially able to contain. Although around 15 employees made initial attempts to extinguish the fire, high temperatures caused the fire to reignite. The fire department was then alerted and arrived on site with ten vehicles and 47 emergency services. The emergency services were also present, with two vehicles and six emergency services who examined the employees as a precaution. According to the police, there were no injuries because the fire was caused by a technical defect. The material damage to the machine amounts to around 10,000 euros.

The fire department was quickly on the scene to bring the fire under control. After initial self-extinguishing efforts by employees, rapid intervention by emergency services was crucial to stabilizing the situation. Such operations are not uncommon in the region, as a similar incident in Bruchsal shows.

A notable case occurred on August 30, 2022 in Bruchsal, where the fire department was called to Lußhardtstrasse for a similar operation due to a fire alarm. The alarm was raised at 4:56 a.m. and the fire department's work lasted over five hours. Employees had noticed embers and smoke coming from a ventilation system, which triggered the fire alarm system. This situation also required the intervention of the fire department, which mobilized various vehicles and equipment, including thermal imaging cameras to locate embers in the ventilation pipes. The measures taken included opening the ventilation pipes with a reciprocating saw to put out the embers.

In both cases, the need for rapid responses to fire hazards in ventilation systems becomes apparent. The fire brigade and the employees on site played a crucial role in the initial extinguishing measures and averting the danger in order to prevent more serious damage. The causes of fires are often unclear and require further investigations by specialist companies who check the technical systems in consultation with management.

These incidents illustrate the importance of regular maintenance and safety checks of technical systems in order to identify and avoid such dangers at an early stage. In both cases, the fire brigade always demonstrated professional behavior and was able to prevent anything worse from happening.
