Oktoberfest in Appenzell: 250 beer fans celebrate with music and tradition!

On October 3, 2025, the Appenzeller Beer Fan Club's Oktoberfest took place in Appenzell, attracting around 250 beer fans. Many of the guests appeared in traditional costume, men in lederhosen and women in dirndls, and flocked to the Aula Gringel, which was festively decorated for the event. President Tschösi Manser welcomed those present with a sweet gingerbread heart, a custom that underlined the warm atmosphere. The scenery was characterized by light blue and white tablecloths and hop cones, which created a typical Oktoberfest feeling.

The culinary offering included traditional dishes such as white sausages with spent grains and chicken from the Güggeli wagon. Accompanying salads such as white cabbage and potato salad were also a must. A special highlight of the evening was the specially brewed fan beer, a strong Weizenbock with 5.7 percent volume, which was very well received by those present. Marco Fritsche, an active member of the Appenzeller beer fan clubs, moderated the evening with charm and wit.

Entertainment and music

The musical opening was carried out by the brass band “Grenzwärtsen” from Vorarlberg, which ensured a festive start. Afterwards, the “Munichs” from Munich really heated up the guests with well-known marquee hits and created an exuberant atmosphere. A traditional raffle rounded off the entertainment program, with the winnings being humorously advertised as rivets.

Another highlight of the evening was the announcement by OK President Markus Zeller, who looked forward to the 140th anniversary of the Locher Brewery in 2026. What is certain is that the next Appenzeller Beer Fan Club fan festival will be part of this anniversary year, which only increases the anticipation for future events.

The Appenzeller Beer Fan Club

The Appenzeller Beer Fan Club plays a central role in the region's beer culture. The board is made up of a diverse mix of women and men, including both fans and people from the brewery. This close collaboration was highlighted during the festival. Members include President Josef “Tschösi” Manser, Vice President Marie-Louise Werren and actuary Aurèle Meyer, all of whom share a passion for beer from Appenzell.

With the combination of traditional cuisine, lively music and a festive atmosphere, the Oktoberfest in Appenzell was a successful event that celebrated both beer lovers and regional culture. It remains to be seen how the fan club and the upcoming anniversary celebrations will develop.
