Marbach City Library closed on July 4th – important information!
The Marbach city library will remain closed on July 4, 2025. The reason for this closure is an inner-city event. However, during the closure period it is still possible to renew media via the FINDUS online service. It is also possible to return media that has already been borrowed easily using the return box, but games and devices are excluded. Digital media can also be borrowed from the Ludwigsburg online library. This information was provided by the Stuttgart News provided.
The city library has also changed its opening hours. Since June 25, 2025, the library has only opened at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. This adjustment is the result of a city staff meeting. Users can return media the following day free of charge via the return box; the exception for games and devices also applies here.
Offered by the city library
The Marbach city library offers its visitors a wide range of media. A total of around 21,000 media are available, including novels, children's and young adult books, and non-fiction books. There are also newspapers, magazines, audio books, DVDs and media for learning German as a foreign language. Particularly noteworthy is the “Library of Things”, where over 20 different items can be borrowed. The prerequisite for this is that users are over 18 years old and have a valid library card, such as Page My Stuttgart reported.
In addition to books and media, the city library also offers WiFi access and three Internet workstations with office programs. Printing costs are 0.20 euros for black and white documents and 0.70 euros for color prints. Users can submit their media requests using an online form, and interlibrary loans for books not in the collection are also possible.
On the way to imparting knowledge
The city library is part of the “WissensWandel” project, which is funded by the German Library Association as part of NEUSTART KULTUR. This project underlines the important role of the library as a central place for education and culture in Marbach. A comprehensive magazine café also complements the library's offerings, where a variety of magazines are available.
