New focus on consumer protection: TikTok could face lawsuit worth millions!
A representative action was recently filed in Berlin against the social media platform TikTok. This lawsuit seeks to award damages to consumers. According to the Bietigheim newspaper The lawsuit will be published in the collective action register of the Federal Office of Justice (BfJ), although publication is expected in a few days. This gives consumers and small businesses the opportunity to register their claims.
The registration of claims or legal relationships of a consumer or small company must be carried out in accordance with Section 46 Paragraph 1 of the Consumer Rights Enforcement Act (VDuG). It is recommended to use the electronic registration option to ensure quick and uncomplicated registration.

Claims should be filed on time, as the deadline for filing is three weeks after the end of the oral hearing. To ensure that the registration is carried out in the correct form, the instructions for completing the form should be followed. Mandatory information about yourself or your company is required, with choices for the country of information ranging from Germany, other EU/EFTA countries and other countries in the world.
In total, the information on the representative action may not contain more than 6,000 characters. Also important is the possibility of withdrawing the registration, which is also possible up to three weeks after the end of the oral hearing. All data entered is subject to data protection regulations and will be processed until the end of the tenth year after the completion of the procedure.
The lawsuit against TikTok could represent a significant shift in the consumer protection landscape and shows how small businesses and consumers can assert their rights together.
