Warm reading with Michi Heuel: Together against loneliness!

As part of a festive event under the motto “Together instead of lonely”, the Caritas Gerlingen Conference celebrated a special reading evening on May 25, 2025 in the family center, which was previously known as the Neubau kindergarten. Around 50 guests accepted the invitation and experienced an entertaining reading with the actor and speaker Michi Heuel, who created lots of laughs and a warm atmosphere with his funny and bizarre short stories. This successful mix of humor and community was the heart of the evening, which was complemented by a culinary offering.

Volunteers ensured the physical well-being of those present by preparing a tasty snack buffet with water, wine and finger food. Admission to the event was free, but donations were accepted to benefit future Caritas conference projects. The evening was not only a cultural highlight, but also an opportunity to honor the commitment of volunteers.

Volunteering in focus

Also in the spirit of volunteerism, a celebration took place in the Marthabräu beer garden in the Fürstenfeldbruck district. 120 volunteers from various areas were honored there, including hospice services, the Brucker Fenster project as well as support in debt counseling and homeless assistance. The district manager Birgit Weiß thanked the helpers for their invaluable commitment and emphasized the importance of their work for the clients, patients and residents of the Caritas facilities.

In total, around 300 people are among the volunteer supporters of the Caritas center in the district. In addition to the projects mentioned, many other volunteers are active in the retirement home, in services for people with disabilities and in charitable offerings in the parishes of the Fürstenfeldbruck deanery. Anyone interested in charitable involvement can contact the Gemeindecaritas at the Caritas Center directly (telephone: 08141 3207 30, email: Gemeindecaritas-ffb@caritasmuenchen.org ).

The events at the Caritas conference in Gerlingen and the celebration of volunteers in the Fürstenfeldbruck district impressively show how important volunteer work is in society. They not only promote exchange and community among participants, but also make a significant contribution to supporting and helping people in difficult life situations. These two initiatives are a shining example of how joy and commitment can go hand in hand.
