Stair running challenge: Local hero Schmidt fights for a record!
The 6th Diak Stair Run will take place on July 14, 2025 at the Diak Clinic Schwäbisch Hall. At this charity event you have to overcome a distance of 394 steps and 65 meters in altitude on 17 floors. The run is very popular and attracts both amateur runners and professionals. In the past, teams from clinical departments, local companies and the Hall Unicorns have competed, which underlines the diversity of the event. Over 150 runners are expected to take to the course in 20-second intervals to ensure that a maximum of 250 starters can take part, as [SWP] reports.
Training for the participants has already begun, and even the rain didn't stop the committed runners from giving their best. 17 participants took part in the last training session in Schwäbisch Hall, where they completed jogging sessions and stair running. Jürgen Schmidt, who held the previous course record with a time of 2:43 minutes, plans to improve his own record by 3 seconds to 2:19 minutes. He will be challenged by Paul Mittnacht, who at 17 is already considered a potential new record holder after setting the record at 2:20 minutes. Markus Assenheimer, running organizer, emphasizes that everyone has the opportunity to take part in the competition, regardless of fitness or experience.
Training and preparation
The training is led by Sandra Franz, a trainer at the nursing school, who offers a comprehensive warm-up program. The training group stays together during the exercise and has the opportunity to exchange ideas during short breaks. In addition, the training sessions are not only carried out on various stairs in the city, but also include parts of the competition route in order to optimally prepare the participants. A special section includes the legendary “Diva of all stairs”.
Another common goal of the training is to overcome your inner weakness. Beginners as well as experienced athletes are welcome, creating an inspiring and supportive atmosphere. The next training will take place on June 30, 2025, and registrations are still open to secure a place.
Tradition and relaxation
As tradition demands at such events, participants can expect a short break after the competition with ice cream, fruit and cool drinks. Many participants emphasized how much fun they had during the running experience, and many spontaneously decided to take part. There is great anticipation for the Diak Staircase Run and the commitment of everyone involved will help create an unforgettable event that not only promotes sporting achievements, but also cohesion within the community.
Registration for the stair race is still open for individual runners and relays and there are still places available. The Diak Stair Run promises to once again be an exciting and challenging event that will captivate both participants and spectators.
