in Uhingen, a picturesque city in the Göppingen district with around 14,000 inhabitants, Achim Gall, a 69-year-old competition swimmer, realized a remarkable project: an outdoor pool in his front yard. The idea for the outdoor pool came up during his pension period after 54 years of competition experience in swimming. Gall has acquired a property next to his house to realize his dream after he was given the opportunity to buy it. The construction of the swimming pool cost him a total of around 250,000 euros, financed by the sale of two condominiums and a loan. The entire process included four years of planning time and two years of construction, with Gall carried out the work for the most part.

The outdoor pool is characterized by a swimming pool of 12.5 m in length, 4.5 m wide and 2 m depth, which is equipped with a modern counter -current system. Around 35 people were present at the recently taken opening, including the mayor Matthias Wittlinger and Sarah Schweizer. Gall himself jumped into the water at the opening and will initially operate the bathroom independently, with the possibility of hiring additional staff in the future. The teachers are taken over by the teachers.

Mayor Matthias Wittlinger describes the project as unique in the 750-year history of the city. With his project, Gall pursues the goal of offering children and adults the opportunity to learn swimming. He also plans special children's afternoons to make the experience in the water even more attractive.

Although the water temperature was around 21 degrees at the beginning and was perceived as too cold for some guests, Gall's commitment remains unbroken. With his outdoor pool he not only helps the community, but also actively promotes swimming in his region.
