Gusts and thunderstorms: weather warning for Göppingen today!

On June 8, 2025, the German Weather Service (DWD) issued an official weather warning for the Göppingen district in Baden-Württemberg. This warning is valid from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. of the same day. Wind gusts with speeds of 50 to 60 km/h (Bft 7) are expected for Göppingen. In areas close to showers and in exposed locations, gusts of up to 70 km/h (Bft 8) can occur.

The warning level for this weather situation has been set to yellow. The DWD recommends that citizens secure loose objects and attach tents and covers accordingly. The weather service released the report at 7:41 a.m. this morning. The weather in the Göppingen district is currently partly cloudy with temperatures around 16°C and a humidity of 77%. The wind is currently blowing at 23 km/h.

Weather developments over the course of the day

The hourly weather development promises a changeable picture. One of the most important times of the day is the forecast for the morning. At 09:00 a.m. the forecast is for 16°C with wind speeds of 27 km/h and a 54% chance of precipitation. As of 10:00 a.m., wind speeds continue to increase while precipitation rates increase to 90% and temperatures remain constant at 16°C.

At 11:00 a.m. the temperature rises to 17°C while the wind blows at 34 km/h and the precipitation reaches 100%. This weather situation will last until the afternoon and evening, where temperatures fluctuate around 16°C and rainfall is constant.

General weather situation in Germany

As the DWD reports, there will be generally changeable weather in Germany on Sunday with local thunderstorms, especially in the second half of the day. The weather hazards include not only stormy gusts, but also the possibility of short thunderstorms with small hail. In the southwest, especially at higher altitudes above 600 m, stormy gusts from the southwest are forecast at times. Heavy squalls can even be expected on exposed mountains such as the Brocken and the Feldberg.

No significant weather phenomena are expected in Germany next Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday are also expected to remain without any significant weather changes. The next weather updates are scheduled for this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the latest.

Looking ahead to the coming week, the DWD sees possible thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail in the western and southern mountains for Thursday, June 13th, although these are only slightly likely. On Friday, however, more frequent showers and sometimes strong thunderstorms can be expected between the edge of the Alps and western Germany, with heavy rain, hail and squalls also likely.
