A festival for horse lovers: 47th star ride to Barbaraberg is coming up!

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, the Reitclub am Kulm e. V. invited the region to a special event: the 47th “Sternride to Barbaraberg” near Speinshart. This event, which has been a tradition for almost 50 years, brings together riders, teams, carriages, hikers and cyclists for a unique festival around the former summer residence of the Speinshart abbots, the Barbaraberg, which is also known as a place of pilgrimage to Saint Barbara. The first rally took place in 1976 and has been carried out continuously since then.

On Ascension Day, over 100 steeds and ponies with their riders and carriages are expected at the meeting point by 10 a.m. The day begins with a field service at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by the priests from Speinshart Monastery, which is accompanied musically by the Kaibitzer Jagdhornbläser. After the service there will be a blessing of the horses and participants can look forward to ribbons as a souvenir. The Guttenthauer Pferdefreunde also offer a selection of food and drinks, including snacks, grilled dishes, coffee and cake.

A celebration for the community

The star ride to Barbaraberg is not only an equestrian event, but also a festive expression of the beliefs and customs in the region. He combines enthusiasm for equestrian sports with a pilgrimage, which gives this event a special meaning. According to [Kurier], the event has a permanent place in the region's event calendar and represents a return to long-standing traditions, especially after difficult years.

The organizers of the Riding Club at Kulm put a lot of effort into ensuring that the event is a success for everyone involved. The public is asked to keep escape routes clear and to follow the carriages and horses at a distance to ensure everything runs smoothly.
