Köngen's Whitsun Festival 2025: Over 300 stands and great culinary diversity!

Next Whit Monday, June 9th, the traditional Whitsun market in Köngen will open its doors. The event is a highlight in the Neckar Valley community's event calendar and expects thousands of visitors. From 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., guests can enjoy an extensive range of stalls and culinary offerings. The market stretches over an impressive 5,000 meters and is organized by around 300 traders who offer their goods from toys to household helpers, handicrafts and spices. Local retailers also invite you to stroll and shop.

The culinary offering is rounded off by barbecue stalls, snack bars, international specialties, food trucks and vegan dishes. Entertainment is also provided: hourly demonstrations by the DRK rescue dog team take place in the castle courtyard. According to Teckbote this is the perfect occasion to go on a summer trip with the family.

Expectations and arrival

In previous years, the Whitsun market attracted over 30,000 visitors, and a similar number is expected this year. Market manager Sigrid Handt emphasizes that the number of traders has decreased compared to previous years, which is due to security reasons. There used to be up to 400 traders who populated the streets in Köngen.

Visitors are encouraged to use bicycles or public transport such as the X10 and 151 bus lines, as parking options are very limited on Whit Monday. An average of 30 cars have to be towed every year because rescue and escape routes are blocked. As Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports, the Whitsun market is more than just a festival - it is a traditional start to the summer and has spread over the years Established for centuries. Originally founded in 1787 as a livestock market, its importance to the community has continued to change and grow.

For those who come, the Whitsun market in Köngen promises to be an unforgettable experience full of tradition, enjoyment and entertainment. Further information can be found on the municipality's official website koengen.de.
