Herrenberg is looking for a breakthrough: Will the point be won today?
The SG H2Ku Herrenberg starts the new handball league season 2025/2026 with challenges. After the team showed disappointing performances in the first two games of the season, there is a groundbreaking duel against TuS Schutterwald on Sunday at 5:15 p.m. in the Markweghalle. They recently got relegated from the regional league and will be a tough opponent for Herrenberger. In order to secure their first points of the season, the team urgently needs a break, especially after a poor start to the season.
Coach Jörg Ebermann faces the challenge of identifying the causes of the poor performance in an emergency. This season the Oberliga presents itself as a balanced league in which every opponent seems to be beatable. However, after the departure of three players, including important playmaker Luk Bartsch, the team is more flexible, thanks to new backcourt players such as Tim Frommer and Paul Lewe who bring a breath of fresh air into the game.
Better feeling than last year
Compared to last season, in which 11 new additions resulted in inconsistent performances and the team ended up in the lower midfield, there are fewer changes in the squad this year. Only three players left the club: Luk Bartsch, Philipp Wanner and Benjamin Bröhl. Jörg Ebermann highlights the progress and acceptance of responsibility by players like Kenneth Stiegen. SG H2Ku Herrenberg is heading into the new season with a positive feeling and self-confidence, supported by good results in preparation against stronger teams.
The restructured league season after the merger to form the Baden-Württemberg Handball Association brings with it additional uncertainties, as many opponents for SG H2Ku are unknown. The start of the season was a win against the second representative of SG Pforzheim/Eutingen in preparation, which raised hopes for a positive development.
The Herrenbergers are now under pressure to achieve a sense of success against TuS Schutterwald in order to continue on the path they have chosen and find their rhythm again. A successful performance in front of the home crowd could be the key to a successful season. The fans and those responsible are already looking forward to the upcoming game, which will show the team that the momentum from the preparation has not been lost.
