Cigarette machines cracked in Gärtringen: police are looking for witnesses!
In Gärtringen, a municipality in the Böblingen district, there have been several thefts from cigarette machines in recent days, putting the local police on alert. On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, unknown perpetrators broke into a cigarette machine at 4:10 a.m. by presumably cutting the side of it with a power tool. All cigarette packets were stolen from the machine, while the damage to property is estimated at around 1,500 euros. The exact amount of the stolen goods still needs to be determined, reports news.de.
The police in Gärtringen are asking the public for help in solving these crimes. Witnesses are asked to call 07034 2539-23 or email herrenberg.prev@polizei.bwl.de. These calls to interview witnesses have played a central role in the investigation process in recent days.
Further incidents in Gärtringen
However, the theft on June 18, 2025 was not the only incident in Gärtringen. Between Saturday, 8 p.m. and Monday, 9:40 a.m., two cigarette machines on Bahnhofstrasse were also broken into. These incidents are part of a worrying series of thefts that began on Max-Planck-Strasse, where the perpetrators became violent at around 3:25 a.m. on Monday morning. In this case too, the total damage was estimated at around 1,500 euros, as the perpetrators took all the cigarette packs. The police received this information from a report in Stuttgarter Nachrichten.
The investigations in both cases are being carried out by the Gärtringen police station, which continues to request witness statements in order to catch the perpetrators and prevent further thefts. Given the repeated incidents in a short period of time, close monitoring and reporting of suspicious activities by citizens is crucial.
