Wrong-way driver on A8: Police are looking for witnesses after a risky incident!

On the night of Friday to Saturday, June 21, 2025, a dangerous incident occurred on the A8 near Mühlhausen im Täle (Göppingen district). At around 1:55 a.m., a wrong-way driver was traveling in the opposite direction towards Munich between the Mühlhausen and Hohenstadt junctions. This led to a worrying situation on the highway as other road users called 911 in time to alert the police.

The police reacted immediately and initiated searches to stop the wrong-way driver. Despite this quick reaction, the driver could no longer be found. The incident has increased concerns about safety on highways in the region. The police are now looking for witnesses who can provide information about the vehicle or the driver. Anyone interested is asked to contact the Mühlhausen traffic police on 07335/96260.

Search and appeal to the public

Police stressed the urgency of investigating the incident and encouraged the public to be vigilant. A wrong-way driver can not only endanger themselves, but also other road users. This makes it all the more important to report suspicious driving quickly. The search for the wrong-way driver has so far been unsuccessful, which makes the situation even more tense.

This incident is part of the increasing problems with wrong-way drivers on German motorways. It is a recurring challenge that affects both police and road safety. Road safety is and remains a central issue, especially in regions where drivers often travel on federal roads and motorways.

The appeal to citizens is clear: be vigilant and do not hesitate to act immediately in suspicious situations. Together we can help make the roads safer.
