Time travel through Welzheim: Historical exhibition opens door to the past!

Next Sunday, June 29, 2025, the special exhibition “Welzheim – then and now” will open in the municipal museum in Welzheim. This exhibition offers a fascinating journey through time through the city's history and shows historical photos, postcards and film archive material that document life in Welzheim over many decades. The exhibition runs until August 10th and is open on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., like [Stuttgarter News](https://www.stuttgarter-nachrichten.de/content. historical-fotos-im-museum-so-sah-es-einst-in-welzheim-aus.903d6322-f7f3-4e14-8d11-9c28068be93a.html) reported.

The majority of the exhibits come from Herbert Soukopp's extensive collection, supplemented by contributions from the Kühnle photo house and loans from the city's citizens. Well-known motifs that will be seen in the exhibition include the picturesque Feuersee, the St. Gallus Church and the church square with its historical buildings. Some of the photos and postcards shown are over 100 years old and impressively reflect the development of Welzheim.

Special exhibits and historical events

Particular highlights include a black and white photo from 1950 that shows children in a hot tub and symbolizes the desire for an outdoor pool. Historical events such as the arrival of the first train in Welzheim in 1911 and the electricity connection in 1914 are also discussed. A showcase in the exhibition also contains old model trains and consignment notes, which provide an insight into the living and trading conditions at the time.

Everyday scenes, such as the cattle market in 1908 or snowy streets in the 1940s, as well as an evening show report from 1965 about the Bürgfeldschule complete the picture of the past. The exhibition is not only a retrospective, but also aims to highlight the rural charm of the late 19th century up to today's developments. (Museum Welzheim) emphasizes that the aim of this exhibition is to honor the city's shared heritage and strengthen the residents' sense of community.

City tours and invitation to participate

In order to make the exhibition even more tangible, special city tours are planned throughout the duration that focus on historical points and buildings in Welzheim. This offers visitors the opportunity to grasp the city's history in an interactive setting. Anyone interested is warmly invited to visit the exhibition and be inspired by the fascinating insights into the past.

Overall, the special exhibition “Welzheim – then and now” will offer a valuable opportunity to discover and appreciate the development and culture of Welzheim.
