Welzheim shines: new play and experience space UrSprung” opens!
In Welzheim, the sensory park “Eins + Alles” recently opened its new play and experience space called “UrSprung”. This opening took place on Pentecost 2025 and marks the first major step after the devastating flood damage that hit the park in June 2024. The flood had catastrophic effects, flooding buildings and destroying the old play structure that had accompanied many children's years. The construction of the first section cost over 800,000 euros, which was financed through donations and our own resources.
The new play area, inspired by Astrid Lindgren's “Ronja the Robber's Daughter”, was specially designed for children aged 4 to 99. The robbers' fortress, the heart of the experimental area, was built from robinia wood and features boulders from a Black Forest quarry. Several further construction phases are planned with a total budget of around 1.7 million euros, which include additional play and experience elements.
An inclusive concept for all age groups
The “UrSprung” is designed as an inclusive space that also takes into account barrier-free access and special play equipment for wheelchair users. This inclusive attitude is supported by the commitment of the Christopherus Living and Working Community Laufenmühle, which is active in the park and is planning further changes and new projects.
The new playground is divided into central themes such as the four elements – fire, water, wind and earth. These elements are represented by various attractions, such as a fire pit, water and wind chimes, and large stones and wood. Children can balance, climb, jump and discover what is not only fun, but also creates a playful connection to the cycle of life. The playground is intended to be an encouraging place of connection for people of all ages.
A celebration for the entire family
On the opening weekend, visitors had the opportunity to explore what the new play area has to offer. Live music and a free shuttle service to the park rounded off the experience. Access to the park is possible via both Welzheim and Rudersberg, adding to the appeal of this new leisure facility and making it a real treat for families in the region.
The idea for the Robber's Fortress came about after reading “Ronja the Robber's Daughter,” which illustrates the close connection to Astrid Lindgren's literature and offers many visitors a particularly appealing experience that awakens memories and stimulates the imagination.
The “One + Everything” sensory park with its new “UrSprung” area represents a significant step into the future, both in terms of recreation and play for children as well as the connection to nature and literature.
