Waiblingen celebrates 50 years of old town festival: cheers, music and magical moments!
The 50th Old Town Festival in Waiblingen begins on Friday, June 27, 2025. The city is celebrating this anniversary with great expectations. The festival opens at 6:45 p.m. when the wind ensemble of the municipal orchestra plays fanfares from the High Watchtower. At 7 p.m., Mayor Sebastian Wolf will take over the official opening on Elsbeth-und-Hermann-Zeller-Platz, a central location of the festival.
Visitors to the old town festival can expect a variety of attractions. A special stand entitled “50 years of festival history(s)” will be set up between the Schäfer butcher shop and the Mariposa fashion store. The Waiblingen newspaper publisher will also run a “pop-up editorial office” here and provide insights into the festival’s history. The festival's hours are until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, with the live music ending at 1 a.m. and the bar closing at 1:30 a.m. On Sunday, however, the festival ends at 8 p.m.
Diverse program for the whole family
The old town festival offers numerous activities for young and old. The program includes live music, the popular knight games and a craft market. Particularly noteworthy are the tower brass, who will sound fanfares again on Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
An attractive music program complements the festival. On Friday, Rosa Fussel will perform at Rathausplatz from 8:30 p.m., followed by John Noville at 10 p.m. Saturday starts with a morning pint by Jonge Remstäler at 11.30 a.m., while on Sunday from 11 a.m. the fanfare of the volunteer fire department creates atmosphere. For the little visitors there will be a play and participation paradise on Sunday on the Erleninsel.
Activities and festivities
There is also a wide range of options for sporty and creative visitors. On Saturday, the chess club will offer blitz chess games between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Scheuerngasse, while a children's flea market will take place at the same time on Langen Straße from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There is also a haircut campaign at Francesca Bruscia, which is being carried out to raise funds for a good cause.
An ecomenical service on Sunday at 10 a.m. on Zeller-Platz and the broadcast of the European Championship games on Eva-Mayr-Stihl Platz round off the varied festival. Admission to the Staufer spectacle, which features craft demonstrations and medieval food on the Brühlwiese, is free, and dogs on a leash are welcome.
The entire program promises an unforgettable experience on this anniversary weekend. Further information can be found on the [Old Town Festival website](www.altstadtfest-waiblingen.de). Come and celebrate 50 years of the Old Town Festival in Waiblingen with us!
