Over 100,000 citizens are demanding repayment: class action lawsuit against Vodafone is underway!
The class action lawsuit against Vodafone has exceeded the significant mark of over 100,000 participants. This is reported by the ZVW, which also announces that the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations (vzbv) has documented the entries in the lawsuit register of the Federal Office of Justice. The lawsuit is directed against a price increase of 5 euros per month for fixed-line internet, which affects around 10 million Vodafone customers and came into force in 2023. According to the vzbv, these price increases are classified as unlawful, which resulted in a lawsuit at the Higher Regional Court (OLG) in Hamm.
In the lawsuit, vzbv is demanding reimbursement of the price difference for the affected customers. Vodafone, on the other hand, justifies the price increase with increased costs and rejects the allegations. Registration in the lawsuit register is possible until the end of 2025, and all resident consumers can join the lawsuit until December 24, 2023.
Course of the lawsuit
The lawsuit was filed with the Hamm Higher Regional Court last fall. A first oral hearing is scheduled to take place on December 3, 2025. The proceedings at the Higher Regional Court of Hamm (file number: I-12 VKl 1/23) are based on a new federal law that grants consumers improved rights. If the outcome is positive, the affected customers could receive money back directly without having to sue themselves.
The increasing number of participants in the class action lawsuit currently shows that there is great interest and concern among consumers. According to that ZDF
