Bioland pioneers in Schornbach: 35 years of the Rapp family’s farm shop!

In Schornbach, not far from Schorndorf in the Rems-Murr district, a very special place has been established for 35 years: the Rapp family farm shop. Margret Rapp's pioneering work laid the foundation for the Bioland idea in the region. Her vision and commitment have turned the farm shop into an institution that is now run by her son Christian. Despite making some adjustments to reduce expenses, Margret Rapp remains active in the business, which is characterized by regional products and sustainable agriculture.

The Biolandhof Rapp is picturesquely located in the Schornbachtal, where the tradition of the family business goes back to 1963, when Karl and Hilde Rapp moved the farm. In 1974, her son Heinz took over the business and continued to run it with vision and foresight. A crucial milestone was the switch to organic farming in 1989, which Margret initiated together with her husband. This began the development of direct marketing, which laid the foundation for today's business.

A third generation family business

Christian Rapp, who joined the business after completing his master's school in 2010, has continued the tradition of organic farming. He is supported by his sister Katerina and other partners from the next generation. Together they are committed to organic farming, with the well-being of the animals and sustainable management always at the forefront.

The farm is known for its suckler cow farming with Limpurger cattle, a typical regional and endangered breed. These animals are kept in a species-appropriate manner and have access to both stables and pastures, especially in summer. The piglets that come from other organic farms are also fattened with the farm's own feed. This practice reflects the principles of the Bioland philosophy by which the farm works.

For the Rapp family and their employees, sustainable agriculture is not only a career, but also a philosophy of life. Over the years, the farm shop has established itself not only as a sales point, but also as a meeting place for the citizens of Schornbach and actively contributes to strengthening the regional economy.

The success story of the organic farm is an inspiring example of how tradition and innovation can go hand in hand. With her commitment and work, Margret Rapp has laid an important foundation on which the future generation will continue to build. Those interested can find more information about the farm and its philosophy on the Biolandhof Rapp website and in an [article from the newspaper publisher Waiblingen].
