Pieve di Soligo celebrates European friendship: concerts & partnerships!
From May 30th to June 2nd, 2025, Pieve di Soligo will be dedicated to international understanding. A special event promoting friendship, culture and community will be hosted this weekend. Official delegations from Murrhardt (Germany), Château Gontier sur Mayenne (France) and Frome (United Kingdom) are invited to initiate even closer European cooperation through partnership agreements. These agreements are intended not only to deepen cultural relations, but also to promote exchanges between citizens, as Oggi Treviso reports.
The opening event will take place on May 30th at 8:30 p.m. at the Cinema Teatro Careni. A concert by the Associazione Filarmonica di Pieve di Soligo will be performed there in collaboration with the Orchester Harmonie from Château Gontier. The program includes important works by well-known composers such as Verdi, Offenbach and Morricone. The official signing of the partnership agreements will take place on May 31st at 4:00 p.m. in the Battistella Moccia Auditorium. In the presence of the mayors of the participating cities, this ceremony will be followed by a joint meeting in the courtyard of the town hall, dedicated to conviviality and cultural exchange.
Cultural exchange and sporting activities
Mayor Stefano Soldan emphasizes the value of these partnerships for international exchange and getting to know a wide variety of cultures. The members of the delegations will stay in Pieve di Soligo until June 2nd, the day of the Italian Republic, and take the opportunity to explore the region.
As a result of the intensive relations between Pieve di Soligo and Murrhardt, various activities are already planned. Music plays a major role here, serving as a connecting element between the cities. On Saturday, October 5th, another concert will take place in the Cinema Teatro Careni, organized by the music associations from both cities. Young football players from Pieve di Soligo also recently took part in a European football tournament in Murrhardt to further strengthen friendship and strengthen common values, reports the municipality of Pieve di Soligo.
European Union and town twinning
Town partnerships are not only an example of European integration in action, but they also make a significant contribution to strengthening intercultural relationships and mutual understanding. A study by the Bertelsmann Foundation shows that around 75 percent of German cities and municipalities rate the relationships with their partner cities as very positive. Regular exchange programs, school partnerships as well as music and sporting events promote contact between citizens. The Sustainable Municipalities show that two thirds of municipalities report stable or more intensive partnerships.
However, in order to involve as many people as possible, it is necessary to increase active participation in these partnerships. This allows city twinning to be used effectively to create a deep and rich European network.
