Janik Michel: Dreams of promotion and goals – a footballer speaks plainly!
Janik Michel, FC Holzhausen's top scorer, spoke in an interview two days after the goalless draw against Berg and reflected on his career and the current season. Despite a missed goal, Michel was happy with the game because he didn't find the 0-0 draw boring. “Ambition and egoism are essential for a successful striker,” said the striker, who is rarely happy when he leaves the pitch without a goal.
The collaboration with the new coach Daniel Seemann, whose influence on the team he rates positively, is crucial for Michel. “After a difficult last season, we have stabilized,” he reports. Compared to the older players, he sees a change in the way younger talents are treated in football, which is important for the development of the game. Michel feels comfortable in Holzhausen and has extended his contract until the summer of 2027, marking his ninth season at the club.
Career and advancement opportunities
FC Holzhausen is currently second in the Württemberg Association League and is fighting for promotion. This season, Michel has already scored 33 goals and prepared three in 25 games. “We have identified the Young Boys Reutlingen and Berg as the toughest competitors in the fight for promotion,” explains Michel. His impressive run cannot be overlooked: he has now scored 201 goals in 183 league games.
Michel can look back on impressive statistics, as he scored 21 goals in 32 games and prepared two in the 2023/24 league season. The previous season brought him 24 goals and seven assists in 34 appearances. His performance was particularly impressive in the 2021/22 association league season, where he scored 47 goals in 38 games. “My goal is to score in double figures every season,” says Michel confidently.
Future perspectives and personal reflections
Michel could imagine a possible role as a player-coach in the future, but not in the near future. His thoughts about a move to Großaspach, where he was in contact with coach Pascal Reinhardt, have so far remained theoretical. “I often think back to the games that led to relegation, especially the game against Großaspach,” admits Michel. Nevertheless, he sees a change in the near future as unlikely and emphasizes: “I am happy in Holzhausen.”
Through his experiences and achievements, Michel has developed into a central identification figure and leader in the club. His development and that of the entire team underlines the ambition to achieve promotion to the next league. FC Holzhausen, with a strong Michel on the offensive, is laying the foundations for a promising future.
