Fairytale theater performance delights children in Walheim!
On June 4, 2025, an exciting theater performance of the play “The Disappeared Prince” took place on the open-air stage in Walheim. This piece, which is aimed specifically at school and kindergarten children, interweaves the stories of well-known fairy tale characters such as the servant of Sleeping Beauty, Gretel and Hansel with elements of everyday life.
The open-air stage proved to be a particularly suitable place to bring this magical fairy tale to life. The excitement and anticipation could clearly be felt among the little audience members as they experienced the well-known characters and their adventures on stage. The theater described the play as a mixture of fantasy and reality, in which two normal schoolgirls from the “real world” are integrated into the plot.
The adventure in fairytale land
The plot of the play revolves around the prince, who is tasked with saving the king's daughters from their sleeping states. However, the prince has had enough of his adventures and decides to feast and sleep in the land of milk and honey. This decision has serious consequences. The other fairy tale characters become increasingly worried because the prince no longer wakes up. The legitimate question arises as to whether Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel will have to remain in their predicaments forever.
In this critical situation, Criketin, the hero hamster, appears and sets out to find a solution. On his journey he meets Jule, a girl who has inherited a special book of fairy tales from her grandfather. Together they set off into the fairytale forest to restore the old order and save the fairytale land from chaos. This fascinating story not only offers exciting moments, but also stimulates children's imagination. Neuhaus Castle open-air stage describes that the aim of this event was to introduce children to the magical world of theater and to get them excited about history.
The performance in Walheim not only provided entertainment, but also conveyed important themes such as friendship, courage and the power of imagination. The combination of real and fantastic elements makes the play “The Lost Prince” an unforgettable experience for young viewers.
The production was a complete success for the theater makers and showed how important it is to introduce children to fairy tales and theater - a tradition that must be preserved. Those interested can find further information about the performance in the report from LKZ.
