A delivery vehicle from a pizza service from Großsachsenheim was stolen on Wednesday evening, May 28th. At around 10:50 p.m., the driver parked the Mitsubishi on Bahnhofstrasse while he delivered an order. The ignition key was in the vehicle and made it easy for the unknown people to steal the car. Shortly after the crime, an immediate search was carried out, but was initially unsuccessful.
On Thursday morning, at 6:35 a.m., a passer-by discovered the stolen vehicle in the Neckar, parallel to Talstrasse in Freiberg. The police, fire brigade, rescue service, DLRG and water police were immediately alerted. During the inspection, a firefighter found that there were no people in the car. The Mitsubishi was then recovered with a crane and secured.
Uncertainty about the perpetrators
Inside the vehicle, rescue workers found a bag that could be attributed to the driver. Nothing has been stolen so far, and the police assume that the perpetrators deliberately sank the vehicle in the Neckar after a night-time joyride.
