SENSATION: Cancer awareness at the cinema event – don’t miss the warning!
A shocking event is just around the corner - the KinoKaffeeFilm on July 15th in the Central Filmtheater Ludwigsburg not only promises entertainment, but also brings a highly topical and explosive topic to the big screen: cervical cancer! The film “The Room Next Door,” which has already won the prestigious Golden Lion at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, addresses the depressing reality of a friendship that is ultimately tested in the face of death. This gripping story, centered around a woman in the final stages of illness, gets under your skin and raises pressing questions - questions that could directly affect many women!
The event begins at 2:15 p.m. with an informative introduction by the committed actors Filiz Ugur and Dr. Uschi Traub from the health department before the film starts at 2:30 p.m. Another highlight: after the film, visitors can test their knowledge about cervical cancer in a quiz and even win great prizes! How can you hold back?
The brutal truth about cervical cancer
Under the motto “Know your risks!” The organizers show that cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, which is caused in almost 100% of cases by the dreaded human papilloma virus (HPV). Outrageous statistics show: Six to eight out of 1,000 women over 60 will develop cervical cancer in the next ten years, while around four women in Germany die from this insidious disease every day. These shocking numbers cannot be ignored! Frauenaerzte-im-Netz has brought the alarming data to light.
But the situation could become even more dramatic! Up to the age of 27, 90% of statutory health insurance companies cover the costs of the life-saving HPV vaccination, whether for girls or boys! In fact, countries like Australia and Norway have already achieved alarmingly high vaccination rates of almost 90%. In Germany, however, only 55% of 15-year-old girls and 34% of 15-year-old boys have been fully vaccinated - a disaster for health care!
Alarming risk factors
The list of risk factors that can lead to cervical cancer is long and worrying. These include early sexual activity, frequent births, constantly changing sexual partners, smoking and even a weakened immune system. Krebs-Rat-Hilfe also informs that awareness of these risk factors and regular participation in preventive examinations are crucial for the early detection and treatment of precancerous lesions!
It is urgently time to draw greater attention to the benefits of screening! Since the introduction of legally anchored cancer screening, the incidence of cervical cancer has decreased significantly. Nevertheless, it turns out that delayed access to health care can have dire consequences!
