Lifesaver for Sachsenheim: New defibrillators for all citizens!

In Sachsenheim, the safety of citizens is a priority, especially when it comes to medical emergencies. Mayor Holger Albrich recently informed about the initiative to install defibrillators in the city. This measure is intended to help significantly increase the chances of survival for people suffering from sudden cardiac arrest.

Existing defibrillators are located in the indoor pool, outdoor pool and in the Kirbachtalhalle Hohenhaslach. Newly installed devices can now be found in the Großsachsenheim sports hall, in the cultural center, in the senior citizens' house and in the citizen service in Outer Schlosshof 3. The Kleinsachsenheim multi-purpose hall and the Sonnenberghalle Ochsenbach are also equipped with defibrillators.

Public accessibility and financial support

Some devices are already in operation, while more will follow in the coming weeks. Particularly noteworthy is the defibrillator in the VR-Bank Kleinsachsenheim, which is accessible 24 hours a day. This was donated by VR-Bank, based on an initiative by Thomas Wörner, member of the municipal and local council. The Sachsenheim local association of the DRK was also involved in this project.

The new generation of defibrillators is characterized by modern self-test functions, multilingual voice guidance and automatic adjustment of the operating speed. They enable uncomplicated use in emergencies by switching between adult and child modes without changing electrodes. The city invested a total of 6,700 euros for devices, housings and signage, with the Björn Steiger Foundation subsidizing each device with 820 euros.

Heart-safe community and training opportunities

The Björn Steiger Foundation aims to build a nationwide network of publicly accessible automated external defibrillators in Germany. A community is considered heart-safe if numerous such devices are installed. The foundation's dedicated team advises cities and communities on the selection, procurement and optimal placement of these lifesavers. Practical training is also offered to reduce inhibitions about using defibrillators and to encourage the population to take action in an emergency. Public relations and education are also important parts of this initiative to raise awareness of heart safety among citizens Steiger Foundation reported.

In addition, the defibrillators are equipped with protective housings that trigger acoustic and visual signals when opened. This is to ensure that passers-by are made aware of the emergency. The German Statutory Accident Insurance (DGUV) also emphasizes how important it is to train first aiders in order to be able to react correctly in emergency situations. Regular training and education are necessary to ensure safety at work and beyond. The responsibility for organizing these training courses usually lies with the entrepreneur, who is also responsible for appointing the first aiders DGUV sets clear guidelines.

The comprehensive cooperation between the city administration, the DRK and the Björn Steiger Foundation shows how important the issue of heart safety is for Sachsenheim and what steps are being taken to protect the population in the best possible way.
