Red inferno in Eglosheim: major fire in the empty guest house!

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, a major fire broke out in the old guesthouse of the International Federation in Eglosheim, a district of Ludwigsburg. The fire was reported by the Ludwigsburg police headquarters shortly before 6 p.m. The fire department was on duty until around 7:40 p.m. to extinguish the flames. Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries so far. The building had been vacant for more than a year and the cause of the fire remains unclear. It is being considered to allow the building to burn down in a controlled manner in order to avoid any danger from the fire.

The fire brigade was quickly on site and deployed several units to put a stop to the fire. The Ludwigsburg fire department received support from, among others, the Freiberg volunteer fire department, as in an earlier operation in October 2023 in the Eglosheim district, where a garden house was on fire. Numerous emergency services were mobilized for this operation, including ambulances from the DRK Ludwigsburg.

Details about the fire brigade operation

During yesterday's major fire, several teams had to use breathing apparatus to combat the strong flames. The Ludwigsburg fire department mobilized an impressive team of 53 firefighters who deployed various vehicles, including turntable ladders and tank fire engines, to fight the fire.

The joint leadership group of the Ludwigsburg and Freiberg fire departments once again shows how important close cooperation is when fighting major fires. Such operations require coordinated action and the provision of adequate equipment and personnel to minimize risks to local residents.

These current incidents in Eglosheim raise questions about the cause of the fire and demonstrate the challenges associated with the issue of vacant buildings. The fire service remains active to determine possible causes and will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure such events are avoided in the future.

In connection with these incidents, it will be important to ensure security in the area and to inform the population accordingly. The fire department will keep you updated on further developments and investigations into the cause of the fire.
