Sabrina Lee: A new path for Pleidelsheim – with heart and mind!

On September 20, 2025, Sabrina Lee took office as the new mayor of Pleidelsheim. In her first speech, she thanked the citizens for their trust and emphasized the importance of the community not only as a place to live, but as a home. In a 15-minute speech, she also recognized the achievements of her predecessor Ralf Trettner, who shaped the community over many years, and announced that she would continue to build on his solid foundation. The election took place on June 1, 2025, and Lee expressed her joy, gratitude and humility at the election. She gave a special thank you to the poll workers for the smooth conduct of the election.

In her speech, Lee set clear goals for her term in office. She doesn't just want to manage, she also wants to actively look for solutions and promises long-term decisions instead of short-term successes. A central issue is the development of the “Neue Mitte”, a fallow area opposite the town hall. The first discussions regarding the realization of this project have already been held, although she warned of quick successes. However, the municipality's financial challenges, which previously recorded a deficit of 1.7 million euros, are gradually improving with the prospect of a balanced budget.

Priority concerns and citizen participation

A central concern of Lee is the promotion of citizen participation events. Planned discussion appointments for young people as well as public consultation hours are intended to facilitate exchange and participation by citizens. She is also planning a volunteer exchange and a bundled tender for photovoltaic systems to promote climate protection in Pleidelsheim.

In her speech, Lee also expressed some skepticism about digitalization in the community, especially in relation to fiber optic installation. Nevertheless, the confidence prevails that changes can be brought about with joint efforts. The goal is to act as an “enabler” and calls on the community to work together.

The role of municipalities in today's society

The challenges that communities in Germany face are diverse. Political structures are often caught in a tension between traditional values and the digital expressions of citizens' opinions. Topics such as global warming, demographic change and migration represent current challenges that do not go unnoticed in Pleidelsheim. Such issues must be addressed within local politics to ensure a responsible and sustainable future. The importance of municipalities for democracy as well as the adaptability and performance of local administration are essential aspects that will play a central role in the coming years, as the Federal Agency for Civic Education analyzes.

Through her clear communication and commitment to citizens, Mayor Lee wants to win the trust of even skeptics and build a responsible, citizen-oriented and sustainable future for Pleidelsheim.
