Trump imposes new entry bans: 12 countries affected!

US President Donald Trump today announced a comprehensive entry ban for nationals from twelve countries. This new implementation, which is set to take effect on Monday, aims to regulate the entry of people from certain nations into the United States. According to Bietigheimer Zeitung, the affected countries include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

Trump has also approved partial entry restrictions for nationals from seven other countries, including Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela. These measures are in line with Trump's repeated initiatives to control the entry of citizens of certain nations.

Entry group regulations

daily news The US government has also created a list of 43 countries from which entry bans are divided into three groups: red, orange and yellow. The red group includes countries with a blanket entry ban, including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Iran, Yemen, Cuba, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Venezuela. These countries are not allowed to issue visas for immigration or tourism to the USA.

The orange group includes countries with highly restricted entry, including Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Turkmenistan. In these cases, visas are only issued for “wealthy business travelers” who must be invited to the US embassy for a personal interview. There is also a yellow group with 22 other countries that have to clarify their entry regulations within 60 days in order to avoid possible classification in the red or orange group.

Criticism and history

The current measures are not the first entry bans that Trump has imposed. During his first term in office from 2017 to 2021, a similar ban was implemented for Muslim-majority countries, which was blocked several times by the US judiciary. This history once again raises questions about the legality and impact of Trump's policies on international relations and migrant flows.

Final changes to the current list and approval still need to be finalized by the US government and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, increasing uncertainty about actual implementation. The developments and the global response to Trump's measures will be followed with interest.
