In the first game of the Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga season, the MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg defeated the SKYLINERS Frankfurt 98:88 on October 3, 2025. In the Süwag Energie Arena, 4,560 spectators watched an exciting game in which Ludwigsburg was in the lead for over 40 minutes and remained in control. The performance of Stefan Smith was particularly impressive, scoring 28 points and making 6 out of 7 successful three-pointers. The American already showed his scoring skills in the previous cup game against the Skyliners when he recorded 35 points. Ludwigsburg coach Mikko Riipinen used targeted timeouts to stop Frankfurt from rebelling and to keep his team in the game.
Ludwigsburg made a clear statement in the first quarter and ended it with a lead of 18:33. The guests led 39:51 until halftime.
