Korntal-Münchingen celebrates 50 years: cheers and music for the city’s anniversary!
On October 25, 2025, Korntal-Münchingen will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The city, which was created on January 1, 1975 from the merger of the communities of Korntal and Münchingen, is honoring this special occasion with a series of celebrations. The official celebrations begin at 6 p.m. in the Korntal town hall, with admission to the public starting at 5:15 p.m. A highlight of the evening will be the speech by Günther Oettinger, the former Prime Minister and EU Commissioner.
As the Stuttgart News report, the evening opens musically by the Korntal and Münchingen music associations with their program “Brass music is so beautiful”. In addition, the local kindergartens present what they do for the city in a video contribution. Former mayor Dr. Joachim Wolf will also give a review of his time in office.
Ceremony and Medal of Honor
The ceremony on Sunday, October 26th offers another brilliant opportunity for celebration. At 12 p.m. the Medal of Honor of the city of Korntal-Münchingen will be awarded, with Michel Januth, the former mayor of Tubize, receiving this award. Admission for this part of the ceremony is also half an hour earlier. Musical performances and performances by a folkloric dance group from the twin city of Mirande round off the program.
The 50th anniversary celebrations correlate with the 60th anniversary of the twin town partnerships with Mirande in France and Tubize in Belgium. A festive champagne reception with a finger food buffet, inspired by the culinary traditions of the twin cities, is planned after the official part. In addition, an exhibition on “60 years of town twinning” will be opened, which began at the end of September and offers further cultural context for the celebration, such as korntal-muenchingen.de supplemented.
The city of Korntal-Münchingen is not the only municipality celebrating an anniversary in 2025. Other cities in Germany, such as Bergisch Gladbach and Erwitte, are also celebrating 50 years since their founding or merger. The Association of Cities honors these events, as can be seen on the website City Day can be read as significant milestones in municipal development. This makes it clear that 2025 is a year of celebrations for many cities in Germany.
