On Friday evening there was a dramatic traffic accident on the K4122 between Altenbach and Vorderheubach, where a car rolled over and ended up on its roof. A road user informed police about the incident, which occurred around 5:30 p.m.
As Tixio reports, the first rescue workers arrived at the scene of the accident and found the vehicle, a VW Polo, on the roof. Although there was initially no information about possible injuries, it later became known that the 79-year-old driver was seriously injured. The reason why the vehicle left the road and overturned is still unclear.
Rescue measures and traffic disruptions
The fire department was quickly on site and freed the elderly woman from the vehicle. A rescue helicopter transported her to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The VW Polo was totaled in the accident and had to be towed away, as Tag24 reports.
Because of the accident, the K4122 was completely closed until early evening. Traffic was rerouted and then routed past the accident site in a single lane. The closure was not fully lifted until around 7:30 p.m. The police have started an investigation into the cause of the accident in order to clarify the exact circumstances.
