Security and salary: Employees demand stable jobs!
A recent survey conducted by the consulting firm Strategy& in collaboration with Appinio shows a clear trend among German employees: In uncertain times, they place greater value on job security and a good salary. Around 1,000 employees aged 18 to 65 took part in the survey and clearly supported traditional factors when choosing a job.[ Bietigheim newspaper ] reports that the results of this survey are particularly relevant in times of economic uncertainty.
Employee survey-based priorities provide an interesting insight into the current mentality of the job market. The results show that 43% of respondents consider job security to be the most important factor in their job choice, followed by good salary at 42%. When looking for a peaceful work-life balance, 41% cite it as important. But not all traditional values are very popular: only 38% of employees attach great importance to a positive work environment.[ Daily Mirror ] adds that the younger generations (18 to 24 years old) particularly value the work-life balance.
Less emphasis on additional services
While safety and salary factors are at the forefront, the survey also shows that extra benefits, such as childcare or sports, are becoming less important for many employees. 56% of participants consider business trips to be unimportant, while 29% consider additional offers and 28% the meaningfulness of the job as irrelevant. This trend reflects current priorities in the labor market, where security and financial stability appear to be more highly valued.[ Bietigheim newspaper ]
Career and transport issues also seem less important from the employees' perspective. According to the survey, which was conducted in January this year, career opportunities and good transport links ranked low on the importance scale. This shows that the uncertainties in the current economic climate have significantly changed the values of employees.
