The first Maultaschen festival in Metzingen: enjoyment for all the senses!

The first Maultaschen festival began today in Metzingen, in the Reutlingen district. Over two days, visitors can experience a variety of delicious and creative Maultaschen variations. The overwhelming selection ranges from classic Maultaschen with potato salad to innovative creations such as Maultaschen burgers, Maultaschen in a wrap or on pizza. Organizer Hans-Peter Schwarz spent two years planning this event, which was created with the aim of establishing an annual event that celebrates the love for this Swabian dish. SWR reports that visitors can also enjoy extraordinary delicacies such as Maultaschen ice cream sundaes with brittle and cherry filling as well as marzipan Maultaschen with pistachio and nougat filling.

Maultaschen are not only quick to prepare, but also extremely versatile. They can be boiled in broth, sautéed, or served as part of a salad. In addition to the traditional Swabian dumplings, the festival also offers international dumplings such as Mongolian dumplings, Indian dumplings as well as Mexican and Japanese variants. The space available at the festival extends between Lindenplatz, Rathaus and Kelternplatz and offers visitors numerous stands that are open until Sunday at 6 p.m.

Variety on offer

The festival offers something for every taste. The prices for the Maultaschen are around 3 euros for the handy versions and between 8 and 10 euros for dishes that include side dishes. Visitors can also expect exciting accompanying offers: In addition to the culinary delights, there is Maultaschen clothing, Maultaschen soap and a varied supporting program with live music from DJs and bands, comedy and improv theater. A special highlight is the small train that is available for the little guests.

To celebrate the opening, a choir from Metzingen contributed to the festive atmosphere of the festival. The festival’s mascot, “Mauli”, will also be there to warmly welcome guests. All in all, the first Maultaschen Festival in Metzingen promises to be an unforgettable experience.
