Lemgoer Neighborhood Coffee: A meeting place for community and enjoyment!
The popular neighborhood coffee in Lemgo will continue in 2025. The project is organized by Antonio Ugia, who volunteers for the community and is known as an artist. The neighborhood coffee now takes place in the large hall of the Schützenhaus after the move from the HanseHaus was completed. These changes are a sign of the continued popularity of the project, which offers numerous citizens the opportunity to meet.
The hall is made available free of charge once a month by the tenant Tina Scholtyssik, which makes it much easier to hold events. The range of cakes and tarts, which includes 8-10 different varieties, as well as the lovingly set tables create an inviting atmosphere. The afternoons are regularly accompanied by live music and exciting lectures on topics such as helping seniors in everyday life and visits to cultural institutions.
A popular meeting place
The neighborhood coffee attracts between 50 and 70 participants, and everyone is welcome. The cost of an afternoon visit is €3.50 for cakes or cheese sandwiches, while unlimited coffee is provided. The events run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and focus on exchanging ideas and building friendships as well as supporting networks within the community.
Future guests include representatives from various organizations such as the Baschlebe hearing aids, the German Red Cross Lemgo and the Lippe police. These collaborations expand the offering and promote dialogue between participants and experts. The project is also actively supported by the local economy, for example through beer donations from the private Strate brewery in Detmold.
Helpers urgently wanted
In order to ensure that the neighborhood coffee can continue to take place, there is an urgent need for new volunteers. Support is needed with baking cakes, setting tables, making coffee and serving cakes. Anyone interested in helping can contact Antonio Ugia directly or reach Mr. Schwär-Fröhlich from the mayor's staff for questions about volunteering.
The upcoming dates for Neighborhood Coffee in 2025 are June 7th, July 5th, August 2nd, September 6th, October 4th, November 1st and December 6th. The city of Lemgo promotes volunteer work and is looking for active support for the project in order to continue the valuable tradition.
