Attention, fraud! Beware of fake heating oil offers in Reutlingen!

On July 1, 2025, the police warn in the districts of Reutlingen, Esslingen, Tübingen and Zollernalb of a fraud in connection with heating oil offers. Robbery providers attract consumers with supposedly low prices, but they turn out to be a trap, since no delivery takes place after the amount is transferred and the contact breaks off. A woman from Reutlingen was the victim of this stitch when she ordered heating oil and made the advance payment, but never received the ordered product. The police recommend that you exercise caution in such offers and to consider several tips for recognizing fake shops. This includes checking the imprint, avoiding preliminary transfers and the use of websites for the provider exam. Further information is available on the websites of the police and Consumer Center.

The warning comes at a critical time, since the heating oil supplies in Baden-Württemberg are filled up before the upcoming heating season. Fraudsters specifically use the search for cheap heating oil providers. The police in Constance have already reported several fraud cases in the Lake Constance region and Black Forest, where victims also fall into the trap of such online fake shops. An example of a 73-year-old from Pfaffenhofen, who lost over 1,000 euros to an Internet fraudster, shows the drama of this situation. The Bavarian police found that the online retailer in question did not exist.
