As part of the International Building Exhibition 2027 Stuttgart City Region (IBA’27), numerous projects presented innovative ideas that are intended to enrich future urban development. An outstanding example was the new wooden parking garage in Wendlingen, which acted as a visitor magnet. The wooden parking garage project, located in Wendlingen am Neckar in the Esslingen district, sets standards in construction and use. Planned as an oval, five-story building with a height of around 18 meters, the parking garage will offer space for around 350 cars and 150 bicycles. In addition, 20 e-car and 10 e-bike charging stations are planned, which is intended to promote environmentally friendly use of mobility. With its climate-neutral concept and a wooden construction that uses screw connections and no use of composite materials, the building will also be easy to dismantle.

The planners, the Wendlingen City Building Authority and Herrmann + Bosch Architects from Stuttgart, have also thought about possible conversions.
