Palsgaard doubles capacity for plant-based polymer additives!
Palsgaard, a leading manufacturer of vegetable oil-based plastic additives based in Juelsminde, Denmark, has announced that it will double its production capacity at its Juelsminde site. This significant expansion is expected to be completed later this year and was announced by Ulrik Aunskjær, director of non-food business development for polymer additives, during a press conference in Rotterdam. Palsgaard is known not only for its food additives, but also for its innovative solutions in the field of polymer additives.
The company plays a central role in the plastics industry, where around 10 percent of its total sales of DKK 2.3 billion (EUR 314 million) come from the polymer additives segment. Palsgaard employs around 750 people worldwide and has positioned itself as an important player in the field of sustainable plastic solutions in recent years.
Innovative additives for sustainable solutions
Palsgaard offers a series of functional additives under the brand name Einar® that have been specifically developed for masterbatches and polymer applications. These additives are based on food-grade vegetable oils such as sunflower oil, rapeseed oil and RSPO-certified palm oil. With Einar®, Palsgaard enables the development of packaging solutions and masterbatches with a sustainable profile that combines both efficiency and an attractive product appearance. The brand name honors Einar Viggo Schou, the founder of Palsgaard, who laid the foundations for the company's social and entrepreneurial values in 1919.
In addition, Palsgaard places a strategic focus on reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions in production. A specialized polymer applications laboratory in Denmark supports the development and testing of new polymer applications to meet the needs of rapidly changing markets and to promote innovative environmental solutions.
Palsgaard has production facilities in Denmark, the Netherlands and Malaysia, which allows the company to operate globally and respond efficiently to its customers' needs. This capacity expansion in Juelsminde will further strengthen Palsgaard's position in the market and promote the continued development of sustainable products.
