Magstadt is planning a new building: citizens fear a stone desert in their hearts!

On June 25, 2025, the Magstadt local council met to discuss important topics relating to the future development of the Seele/Metzlesbach development area as well as traffic calming measures in the town center. The meeting also focused on other traffic issues that are important to residents. A resident expressed concerns that a “stone desert” should not be created in the new development area, as is feared for, for example, the two market squares and part of Alte Stuttgarter Straße. Mayor Florian Glock emphasized that it is currently too early to discuss specific designs for the development area. Szbz reports that such concerns should be taken seriously.

Another item on the agenda was the Magstadt municipality's application to the district office to provide a radar trailer. This would be a measure to increase road safety, especially in residential areas that are repeatedly affected by excessive speed. The need for such measures highlights the importance of road safety in the community and sends a clear signal to road users.

Development of the Seele/Metzlesbach development area

The new Seele/Metzlesbach development area is intended not only to create living space, but also to improve the quality of life in the community. As part of this project, the focus is on the development of future-oriented urban planning concepts. According to STEG, which acts as a partner in strategic urban development, it is important to take aspects of climate protection and climate adaptation into account when planning the new districts. STEG emphasizes that Solutions for creating affordable housing and resilient urban development are central.

The challenges in urban and community development are unmistakable given the precarious financial situation and limited human resources. STEG strives for long-term customer relationships with municipalities in Baden-Württemberg and Saxony and supports them in developing sustainable concepts and securing the municipal building stock.

Outlook for the future

In order to meet the requirements of modern urban development, close collaboration with various partners and specialist departments is necessary. STEG relies on individual, competent and holistic advice to strengthen the finances of municipalities and advance digital transformation. The formation of municipal identity in new neighborhood developments plays a crucial role in promoting a “feeling of togetherness” among citizens.

In summary, it can be said that the municipality of Magstadt is facing major challenges that should be addressed with proactive and citizen-oriented planning. The reporting by Szbz and the information from STEG illustrate the importance of this initiative for the positive development of the community. It remains exciting to see how the Seele/Metzlesbach development area and the implementation measures will develop in the future.
