On Saturday evening, October 18, 2025, a fascinating light spectacle illuminated the Schönbuchturm in Herrenberg. The event attracted many visitors and transformed the 35 meter high observation tower into an impressive play of colors, accompanied by musical sounds and pyrotechnic effects. The Illumination, which marks the third edition of this special event, was offered between 7 and 11 p.m. and was very popular.
Before the actual show, the Schönbuchturm was bathed in warm yellow-orange light to get visitors in the mood for the upcoming highlights. The light and color show lasted about ten minutes and, supplemented by half- and full-hour repeats, was carried out until the last performance at 11 p.m. The organizers, the Observation Tower Support Association in the Schönbuch Nature Park and the Böblingen District Office, ensured a technically impressive implementation in collaboration with EMT Event-Media-Tec GmbH from Herrenberg. For the numerous guests, getting to the Schönbuchturm was a challenging task as parking options were very limited. Therefore, a shuttle bus service was set up that ran free of charge from the town hall car park in Herrenberg via the outdoor pool car park to the forest cemetery. These regular shuttle bus departures took place between 5:00 p.m. and 10:43 p.m., with the last trip departing from the Forest Cemetery. Visitors were well advised to take advantage of this offer to ensure easy access to the tower on foot.
Furthermore, the state road between Herrenberg and Hildrizhausen was closed to traffic from 5:30 p.m., which made travel even more difficult.
