Experience the e-bike world: open day in Gärtringen!
On September 13th and 14th, 2025, the e-bike world e-Motion in Gärtringen invites you to an exciting open day. The event promises exciting insights into the world of electric bicycles, which will be of interest not only to electric vehicle enthusiasts, but also to families and other interested parties.
At Robert-Bosch-Straße 13/1, visitors can experience the day-to-day work of a specialist e-bike shop up close. The processes in workshops and storage rooms as well as the entire process from the delivery of a bicycle to its handover to the customer are shown. A supporting program offers additional fun for the little guests with a bouncy castle and an e-bike course. Various food and drinks are provided for your physical well-being, great prizes can be won on the wheel of fortune and special promotions round off the inviting offer.
Inclusion and sustainable mobility in focus
The e-bike world is part of the inclusion company Femos, which has been creating jobs for people with disabilities since 1989. Michael Bauer, the managing director of Femos gGmbH, emphasizes that the aim of the opening is to facilitate access to sustainable, inclusive mobility while at the same time offering the best possible advice and service. In this context, Roland Bernhard, District Administrator of Böblingen, emphasized the importance of inclusive, sustainable mobility for the region and pointed out the promotion of cycling in the district, which should also make a contribution to climate protection.
The new location was ceremoniously opened in summer 2024. The construction and furnishing steps of the e-bike world placed particular emphasis on optimized work processes and ergonomic workplaces, and some measures focused on the energy sustainability of the building. Tobias Hoffstaedter, Managing Director of e-motion experts GmbH, described the opening as a significant step for Femos and e-motion. “People are the focus; we want to increase the quality of life through personal advice and innovative mobility solutions,” says Hoffstaedter.
Mobility alternatives and their meaning
In times of rising energy and gasoline prices as well as the challenges of climate change, a redesign of corporate mobility is necessary. Electric cars are often seen as the first solution, but they entail additional costs for employers. Cost-effective alternatives such as local public transport or e-bikes are becoming increasingly important. Electrically assisted bicycles (pedelecs) offer an attractive alternative, especially for distances of up to 15 kilometers.
Statistics show that 29 percent of commutes are shorter than 5 kilometers and 20 percent are between 5 and 10 kilometers - almost half of all commutes could therefore be made by bike. The employer has the opportunity to create incentives such as job tickets for e-bikes, which is not only environmentally friendly but also promotes employee health and leads to lower sick leave.
Femos is counting on these developments and is planning further events in the field of cycle tourism and ergonomics in the future in order to further promote and make the inclusive campus human world accessible.
