Rockin' Lafayettes: The free dance festival in Feucht this weekend!

Next weekend the Rockin' Lafayettes will bring their rousing music to Feucht. On Saturday, May 24th, at 8 p.m. they will perform in the picturesque garden of the Zeidler Castle. Admission is free, while donations are welcome. The physical well-being of the visitors is also taken care of.

The band, which was founded in 1986 by Hannes 'Jimmi Lafayette' Bernklau, has since then earned a permanent place in the music world. Originally formed from the rockabilly band “The Swampcats”, the Rockin' Lafayettes play a colorful repertoire of rockabilly, rock'n'roll, rockin' rocket blues as well as pin-up jazz and swing. The formation consists of three experienced musicians: Hannes 'Jimmi Lafayette' Bernklau (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Ferdinand Roscher (upright bass, backings) and Simon 'The Frog' Froschauer (drums, backings).

A long tradition in rockabilly

The Rockin' Lafayettes bring over 30 years of experience to the stages. They are known for their energetic concerts and the use of nostalgic equipment and stylish clothing that reflects the charm of bygone times. The band played, among other things, as the opening act for Chuck Berry in 2008, which was a highlight in their career to date.

The origins of rockabilly date back to the 1950s, when this style of music emerged in the southern United States. Rockabilly is a white interpretation of rhythm and blues and combines elements of country and hillbilly music. The first rockabilly hit is considered to be “That’s All Right, Mama” by Elvis Presley, released in 1954. This style of music quickly became very popular and influenced an entire generation of musicians, including greats like Carl Perkins and Johnny Burnette.

Planned appearances and publications

The Rockin' Lafayettes have not only thrilled the Feucht with their music, but have also planned numerous other performances in the region. Upcoming events include Christmas markets in Erlangen and Fürth as well as concerts in various cities until 2025. Her discography includes the 2014 LP “Mud Hole” and singles such as “I’m a Hobo” and “Get Goin’,” both from 2019.

Overall, the Rockin' Lafayettes are not only dedicated to preserving the rockabilly style, but also to further developing it, making them an indispensable band in the German music scene. They invite all music lovers to enjoy the unique experience of a concert at the Zeidler Castle in Feucht.
