Chauffeur beaten in public bus: passenger arrested with 0.91 per mille!

In Gurtnellen UR, last Thursday evening around 11 p.m., there was an incident on a bus that called the police to the scene. A 39-year-old Swiss passenger insulted the bus driver and suddenly hit him in the face. The altercation occurred at the Fellital stop, which resulted in the bus having to stop and the situation being clarified. The chauffeur was finally able to get the aggressive passenger off the bus.

The Uri canton police were informed immediately and arrived with a patrol. Due to his unruly behavior, the passenger was handcuffed for his own safety. The subsequent breath alcohol test showed a value of 0.91 mg/l, which corresponds to significant alcoholization. The accused will now have to answer to the Uri public prosecutor's office for various offenses, including drunk driving.

Legal consequences of drunk driving

How anwalt.de reported, the consequences of drunk driving can be serious. The legal consequences depend heavily on the blood alcohol level. With a value of 0.91 mg/l, the passenger is above the limit for absolute inability to drive, which starts at 1.1 per mille, and can face serious criminal consequences.

In general, driving under the influence of alcohol is classified as a misdemeanor or a criminal offense, depending on the circumstances and the alcohol level. A precise legal assessment will be necessary in individual cases, particularly with regard to possible previous convictions or risk of accidents.

In Germany, drunk driving is viewed as an abstract dangerous crime, which means that an accident does not necessarily have to occur to be punishable. In this context, the passenger could also expect his or her driving license to be revoked or a driving ban. What is particularly worrying is the fact that even novice drivers commit criminal offenses, regardless of their blood alcohol level, but are often only treated as a misdemeanor.
