Wangen Old Town Run: Over 1,000 participants conquer the streets!
The 28th Wangen Old Town Run took place on July 6, 2025, attracting a total of 623 participants this year. As the Swabian reported, 319 children, 213 students and 91 participants in the main race took part in the event. This shows a pleasing increase in the number of participants compared to previous years, especially among the youngest runners.
In warm but pleasant temperatures, the athletes competed in the historic old town of Wangen, which is known for its narrow streets, cobblestones and large market square. The volunteers from the DRK Wangen were also on site; They only had to record two wound treatments and there were no heat-related calls.
Results and records
Particularly impressive was the high number of 1,073 participants in the Altstadtstolperer, an event in which participants could decide for themselves in 30 minutes how many laps they would run. This significantly exceeded the target number of participants of “more than 1,000”. A total of 4,796 laps and a distance of 5,204 kilometers were covered.
The results of the stumbling teams spoke for themselves: TheTailored shirt pouch cheeksachieved an average of 5.27 rounds (up to 15 participants), followed by theGLW GmbHwith 5.15 rounds (15 to 30 participants) and theHandball youth support association, who ran 4.93 laps (31 to 60 participants). School evaluations and conclusion of the event
The school evaluations also showed pleasing results: TheMartinstorschulehad a participation rate of 24%Niederwangen primary schoolreached 35% and theMaria Regina kindergartenimpressed with a participation rate of 55%.

The Wangener Altstadtlauf, which has now been firmly anchored in the event calendar for 25 years, has developed into an important sporting event that is open to both experienced competitors and amateur athletes.
