New 4K hotel in Wangen: modern cuisine and wellness oasis in the Allgäu!

The 4K hotel in Wangen, above Lake Constance, emulates a modern and urban style. Located at a train station, it not only offers its guests attractive accommodation, but also a wide range of culinary options. The exterior appearance of the hotel is a simple, white facade, while the interior is decorated with dark tones and accents of petrol and olive. Despite the modern appearance, there are some areas that are not entirely convincing.

The hotel's restaurant presents a mix of Asian, Mediterranean and Swabian cuisine. However, on the last visit, a dish we ordered, the rack of venison, was not available, which somewhat tarnishes the condition of an otherwise promising menu. The restaurant was only a third full, which could perhaps have served as a reason for the dishes to be fully available.

Culinary experiences

The starter, a “Sicilian fish soup” with fried fish fillets, vegetables, toasted bread and garlic mayonnaise, deviates from the traditional recipes. The scallops, one of which was ideally fried and two of which were overcooked, also show that there is still room for improvement. The trout mousse, which was light and mild in taste, deserves a positive mention.

The main course was turbot with yellow beets, earthy foam and creamy root vegetables. The fish was juicy and well prepared. On the other hand, the truffle ravioli, which were served with freshly grated truffles and parmesan shavings, were tasty and demonstrated the aesthetic presentation of the dishes. Overall, the price level of the restaurant was in the upper segment, although the preparation of the dishes should be flawless. A 3-course menu is available from just 70 euros, while the main courses cost between 20 and 42 euros.

New wellbeing & sauna area

Particular attention is paid to the hotel's new wellness and sauna area, which opened in May 2025. Guests of the superior rooms, suites and family suites can use this area free of charge. The sauna area includes a classic sauna, a sanarium and a relaxation area, all of which are designed with generous ceiling heights and wooden elements. This innovation is complemented by opening hours Monday to Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Overall, the 4K hotel in Wangen offers many aspects that are convincing, but at the same time there are areas that should be improved. Guests can look forward to a modern ambience and a diverse cuisine, although the availability and preparation of some dishes could be optimized. The new well-being area rounds off the hotel's overall offering and promises relaxation and recreation for visitors.
