On June 5, 2025, the city of Vaihingen celebrates its traditional May Day, but this year there are some significant changes regarding safety. The city administration has published a revised security concept to minimize the risk of incidents. Against the background of increased security concerns worldwide, various measures have been introduced that affect both the infrastructure and the presence of security forces. Diverse program for young and old
May Day not only offers safety precautions, but also a varied program for visitors. A total of 33 guests from the Hungarian twin town of Köszeg will take part in the festival. The fair opening times are generous: on Friday and Saturday the opening hours are from 2 p.m. to midnight, while Sunday and Monday are open from 11 a.m. On Tuesday the fun starts at 12 p.m. and continues until midnight.
Transport and logistics
The city ensures smooth arrival and departure with free bus connections within the city from Friday 4 p.m. to Tuesday. A May Day shuttle will also be offered on Whit Monday to bring visitors back safely after the celebrations. This return trip is also free. Tickets for the fair can be purchased in advance at the cultural and tourist information center. New this year are the punting trips, which are offered on Saturday and Monday at 2:30 p.m.
