Farewell to heat! A change in the weather brings rain and thunderstorms to the country

A significant change in the weather is imminent in Germany. As Antenne Münster reports, a significant change is expected this Sunday with significantly more clouds and predicted rain. Unstable weather will dominate, especially in the north of the country, while highs of over 30 degrees are possible in many regions of southern Germany. These upcoming changes will not only bring cooling but also a higher chance of thunderstorms.

The German Weather Service (DWD) informs that the current weather situation is characterized by moderately warm air from the Atlantic, which is under the influence of weak high pressure. This Friday, thunderstorms are expected, particularly south of the Danube, which could bring heavy rain. Strong winds of up to 70 km/h and small-grain hail may also occur. While the north experiences variable cloudiness and a few showers, the south is predominantly summery and warm.

Weather forecast for the weekend

For Saturday, the DWD reports that sunny weather will dominate in the south, while changeable weather with regional rainfall is expected in the north and the northern German lowlands. The maximum temperatures here are between 20 and 32 degrees, although the low altitudes in the southwest can reach the highest values. It will remain frequently cloudy on Sunday night, with showery rain in the northwest, while the rest of the country will remain mostly dry.

On Sunday itself the weather situation will be fundamentally changed. Temperatures will be between 19 and 30 degrees from northwest to southeast, with sunshine expected in the southeast initially. But the weather is becoming increasingly unsettled, with occasional showers of rain and thunderstorms. From Monday onwards, even more frequent rainfall and further cooling to highs between 18 and 25 degrees are expected, coupled with moderate to strong winds.

Effects of weather change

This change in weather also brings hope for relief from the sometimes severe drought that has plagued Germany in recent weeks. However, while the east of the country can expect relatively little rainfall, the risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon will be greater in the west and northwest. Weather experts expect longer periods of sunshine and mild temperatures of up to 30 degrees, especially in the south and southeast.

The forecast temperatures and weather conditions make it clear that an exciting but also changeable weekend lies ahead. The coming days will show to what extent the weather forecasts from DWD and Antenne Münster are correct and how the population will deal with the various weather conditions.
